Surf Bomb

Let’s get messed up. This texture spray is a shot of the sea when a dunk in the ocean isn’t possible. Surf Bomb delivers that effortless, sexy tousled look without drying out your hair or dumping sand in the shower.

Set and Forget. Original Queenie is a twist on the stone cold classic. Its flexible hold will survive a hundred and one brush strokes without complaint – no flakes or unwanted stickiness here. Australian native Lilly Pilly extends hold by reducing unwanted oil, while Quandong adds weightless protection to nourish the hair.

Introducing Davines Oi

Posted 7:41 PM by

GENEVA Hair Studio is proud to welcome the Davines Oi line, absolute beauty for all hair types.

The OI Essential Haircare line philosophy combines concrete solutions for all needs with a concept of beauty treatment that the cosmetic industry has so far reserved for skincare.

Hence the challenge: OI/OIL, a refined multi-purpose oil launched by Davines in 2011 that is a perfect synthesis of treatment and styling, whose success led to the creation of the revolutionary OI/All in One Milk, the initiator of a new type of multi-purpose product, and the pair OI/Shampoo and OI/Conditioner, special complementary products that share the same origin, style and formulation concept as OI/OIL. The results warrant the definition of “absolute beauty products”.

The properties of the products in the OI family are also linked to Roucou Oil, originally from the Amazon, which has a restructuring action on the hair. This is joined by a selection of special ingredients in a formula that is ideal for obtaining results that are immediate and evident, and can be enhanced by using with other OI specialities. Roucou Oil is abounding in beta-carotene with antioxidant and restructuring properties, and in ellagic acid with its free radical-neutralizing action.

Stop by GENEVA to check out:

Oi Shampoo - Suitable for giving hair softness, shine, & body for all hair types

Oi Conditioner - Suitable for giving hair softness, shine, & body for all hair types, accelerating the drying process, protects the structure of hair from damage.

Oi Oil - Multipurpose oil treatment suitable for all hair types, adds extraordinary shine & softness, detangles, anti - frizz effects, and restructuring action.

Oi All in One Milk - Rich and nourishing formulation, ideal for all hair types.  Benefits include shine, softness, detangling action, moisturizes hair, provides heat protection, and facilitates blow drying.

Oi Body Balm - Body cream with nourishing properties that leaves the skin pleasantly silky.

Small Angled Brush by Liz Hoch

Posted 3:00 PM by

Small Angle Brush by Liz Hoch

Bdellium #763

This small angled brush offers versitility for any makeup user. This multipurpose brush is a perfect pair with gel liners, powders, or crème. It can be used wet or dry depending on the desired look. The slanted angled brush is the most user friendly of the eyeliner brushes due to its easy-to-maneuver slanted angle. Create sharp, precise, even lines every time.
Try out this brush on the brows, to line the eyes, or even in a pinch to fill in the lips. Here are a few simple ways to use the small angled brush.
When using the brush to fill in the eyebrows begin with an eyebrow powder palette. We suggest the Youngblood Brow Artiste palette. Fill in the sparse brows with the brow powder by using short strokes over your natural brow shape. If you prefer a more defined brow, use a brow gel or crème along with the small angled brush to create your shape and fill.
The small angled brush is a great tool to use for eyeliner. Use with a powder for a soft difused look or with a gel liner for a precise, clean line. We suggest Youngblood Pressed Eyeshadow and Cailyn Gel Eyeliner. Place the brush on the inner corner of the eye and press into lash line. Begin walking the brush across to create a perfect line or a winged liner.
After your application, it is always best to clean your brushes. Keeping your tools germ and bacteria free will ensure a clean application every time. Wash your brush with a gentle shampoo, swirl the brush around to remove product, and then rinse.

Eyebrow Tutorial by Holly Beasley

Posted 2:01 PM by

how to: eyebrows

Eyebrows are the most identifying facial feature that frame your eyes and, when shaped properly, bring out the eyes and thus brighten the face. Even if you already have a pretty nice natural shape to begin with, a subtle change can make a difference. The eyebrows show emotion and can soften or define facial features. Taking the time to shape the eyebrow is a small change that can really make a huge difference!
Before we begin with the step by step tutorial, let’s discuss a few tips to keep in mind to help along the way. First, practice makes perfect; don’t get discouraged if you don’t get it the first time, or the second...or third. Secondly, brows are sisters, not identical twins - don’t get caught up in making them perfectly identical. Lastly, back up from the mirror. Getting the balance, shape, and thickness of the brow correct for the face is achieved by seeing the brows not only up close but from a distance as well. Your brows may look impeccable in the magnifying mirror but in person they may look uneven on the face and/or too thick or too thin.
So let’s get started!
Begin by finding the placement of your brow. Refer to this diagram to know where your brow should start, arch and end.

Step 1: Apply eye primer to the lid and into the brow area. We recommend Blinc Eyeshadow Primer. Comb brows into shape.
Step 2: Using an eyebrow or eyeliner pencil, outline the bottom of the brow with short, wispy strokes starting at the inner corner and working up to the arch (Image 1). We recommend using the Youngblood Eyeliner pencil. Continue the line from the arch to the desired tail of the brow (Image 2). Repeat on the other side. Remember, when working with a pencil, it is important to use a light hand as too much pressure can create an unnatural and harsh end result
Step 3: Outline the top of the brow starting 2/3rds of the way in from the inner corner to the peak of the arch (Image 3). Continue the line from the peak of the arch to the tail connecting the top and bottom lines (Image 4). Repeat on the other side.
Step 4: Take a soft brow brush and lightly diffuse the lines toward the center of the brow.
Step 5: Using the Bdellium 762 angled brush, apply brow powder to the inside of the brow using a light hand (Image 5). We recommend using the Youngblood Brow Artiste Palette. Start in the middle and work your way toward the tail end. Pick up more brow powder with your brush and begin to fill in the front of the brow where you want it to begin (this can be extended past the natural brow or within it). Lightly brush brows with a brow brush to blend the products.
Step 6: At this time you can clean up any mistakes around the brow with a Q-tip. If more definition is desired, concealer applied with a precision concealer brush can be used around the edges.
Step 7:  Next, using the Bdellium 975 mixed powder brush, apply face powder over the entire brow area to set the brows and soften the edges (Image 6). We recommend using the Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Powder. And your done!

Quick Steps:

  • Apply primer
  • Line bottom
  • Line top
  • Blend
  • Fill with powder

Holly will present this how to during a live demonstration with Q & A at our Style Event on May 2nd!

Trending Now: Matte Lips

Posted 6:27 PM by

We've all been there, stuck in a style-rut. Routine gets the best of us and we find ourselves waking up for work each morning, applying the same makeup products, in the same order and wondering why we feel dull and drab. We want to switch up our look, but not in a complete makeover sort of way. And we certainly don't want to break the bank in the process. Now a mini-makeover is easier than ever with this fall trend we're already excited for: matte lips.

BOLD, matte lips were a stand-out trend at the summer 2013 shows, with Alexander Wang, Prada, and Burberry all opting for bright, velvety shades that popped amidst otherwise pared-back beauty looks.

It's understandable that it might be hard to let go of your trusted lip gloss, after all, the lip trend for the past few years has been glossy or bust; but this look is surprisingly versatile, far from boring and can work on every skin tone. Perfect for day or night, you can go matte with any hue.

Head over to GENEVA to check out Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks in Debalicious, Vixen, and Barely Nude....and remember all Youngblood lip products are $3.00 off in August!

Summer Hair Care

Posted 5:18 PM by

protect & care for your summer hair

Picture it: summer in fabulous Indiana. It’s hot and the sun is shining down on all the little peeps frolicking at the pool or jogging along the Pennsy trail with their chocolate labs. Summer is here to stay and you’re soaking up all the rays you can. Life is good.

But when you get home after a long day of warm-weather antics, you look in the mirror and see your beautiful new summer ombre hair color looks washed out and dull. You scream at your reflection and then you pick up the phone and call Geneva Hair Studio (#2 on your speed dial I’m sure) and make an emergency appointment to revive your strands.

Don’t let this be you! I have for you, because I am sooo kind, a way to avoid this heartache.

Thanks to Davines’ Glorifying line (our super awesome Italian hair color/care line), which provides UV protection, fights free radicals and oxidation, and moisturizes, there is a solution to your summertime blues:

  • Add Glorifying Elixir ($20) to your next color service. It’s a super powered serum that when mixed in with your color, helps reduce color fading and is packed with antioxidants.

  • Upgrade your shampoo to the Glorifying Shimmering Shampoo ($5). Polyphenols protect from UV rays and wheat proteins add a protective  barrier to the hair.

  • Seal in color with Glorifying Color Locking post color mousse ($15).This is a great product for anyone (even us pale, sun phobic people) who wants to increase the longevity of their color.

  • Hydrate and block free radicals with the Glorifying Anti-Age Shimmering Pak ($15). Your sun dried tresses will thank you.

  • Glorifying Color Protective Leave-In ($5) will add moisture and protection. This lightweight conditioner blocks solar radiation and leaves hair silky and soft.

  • Add high shine and UV protection with Glorifying Shimmering Silkening Serum ($10). It only takes a couple drops to have sassy, glossy ‘do.

So when it comes to sun protection, we’ve got you covered! Don’t forget to do your part and wear a hat or scarf for added protection when outdoors and ALWAYS wear sunscreen to protect your biggest organ: your skin!

“But Holly!” you say, “After a day at the pool my hair feels like straw and I can’t even get a comb through it!” Well, my friend, have I got a product for you! Davines’ Naturaltech line has a whole family devoted to detoxifying your hair!

  • Detoxifying Mud ($30) is this amazing clay mask for your hair that actually sucks out all the impurities such as chlorine from your hair and leaves your hair manageable and healthy. Ge this treatment as often as needed after prolonged chlorine exposure.

All of these great products will keep you stress free and your hair summer ready are available in salon and can be customized for your specific needs.

Just remember: protect your hair!
